This year we decided to save the printing costs and mail expenses for the annual Christmas greetings to all our customers and business partners and sent the letters electronically instead. The money we saved was donated to a charity project.
We have chosen I Plant A Tree (www.iplantatree.org ). It's a young, non-profit company channeling the donations they receive directly into reforestation. The platform is also a perfect tool for small & medium sized businesses to engage in local projects - they call it Corporate Environmental Responsibility.
The transparency of the business has a role model function for non-profit organizations. Each donor can follow how many (where and when) trees have been planted with his money. Additionally the joint efforts of all donors are measured continually and shown with a tree / CO2 counter.
